Why did Nigel Farage quit as the leader of UKIP?

Having created the mess, he no longer wants to be accountable to the public for it. He’s washing his hands of it. He’s probably smart enough to know that none of the things he promised will actually come true, and he wants to be out before his lies catch up with him.
