JEE Main 2020 Details

JEE or Joint Entrance Exam Mains that serves as the preliminary exam for admission in various engineering colleges in India for the year 2020 will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). This exam is similar to the previously known IIT-JEE exam which was the gateway to various engineering institutions such as IITs and NIITs. As per the recent update, NTA will be conducting JEE MAINS 2020 exam twice -- in January and April. There will be 2 papers--first paper for admission in B.Tech and B.E course and second and third paper for B.Arch and B.Planning. JEE Main qualifiers will be eligible to appear forĀ JEE Advanced 2020.

Application forms for JEE MAIN 2020 for the April session has been released on 07 February 2020. Candidates can apply for the same through the official NTA website. Applicants will have to fill their personal details, contact details, educational details, choice of paper and exam centre. Applicants will have to upload their scanned passport size photograph and signature in specified size and format. Along with the regular reservations, there will be an additional reservation of 10% for the EWS (economically weaker section) candidates. Applicants are allowed to appear in one or both the sessions, ie. January and April. Candidates who appear in both the sessions, January and April will have the benefit of considering higher of the two marks for the JEE MAINS Merit list. Furthermore, candidates who have registered for JEE MAIN January session will not have to separately apply for the April session. They can use their Application Number and Password.

Applicants must have thorough awareness about the eligibility criteria for applying for JEE MAIN 2020 as determined by NTA.

  1. Age Limit: Candidates born not before October 1, 1995, will be eligible. Age relaxation as per Government of India regulations applied.
  2. Passing Year of Qualifying Exam: Candidates who have passed their XII or equivalent exam in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 can apply for JEE MAIN 2020.
  3. Number of Attempts: Candidates can appear for the exam three times consecutively. If a candidate appears in both the January and April session of the same year, it will be considered as a single attempt.
  4. Subjects in Qualifying Exam: Students must compulsorily have Mathematics and Physics paired with either Biology or Chemistry or Biotechnology for being eligible for Paper 1 of JEE MAIN 2020. For Second paper, Maths is compulsory along with 50% aggregate in 5 other subjects.
