How to Maintain Your Ductless Air Conditioning This Winter Season

Just like all major appliances in your home, your ductless air conditioning in North Vancouver will also require some maintenance. While it might not be as tedious to maintain as a central air conditioning unit, it will still need to undergo some maintenance steps so that it will function without issues. Here are some maintenance tips for your Air Conditioning in North Vancouver you should do in the winter season:

1.Get rid of accumulated ice or snow.

Your ductless air conditioning in North Vancouver can also be used for heating. But when you use it for such a purpose during winter, it has a tendency to collect snow and ice. Collected ice can prevent it from performing well. You would want to check the outside unit and find out if there is collected snow on top of the machine and inside the unit. Remove the snow as gently as you can to prevent more of it from getting inside. Try making a roof for the exterior unit of your appliance. This will make sure snow won’t collect on top of it. Also check the inside and get rid of insects and dead animals.

2.Clean the filter.

This is a basic step for heating and cooling appliances at home. The filters are responsible for separating debris from the air being transferred from the machine and into the air you breathe so it needs to be clean. Remove the filter from inside your ductless air conditioning and wash it if it is washable. Let it dry completely before putting it back on. It’s ideal to clean the filter every 6 weeks or so to ensure the efficiency of your air conditioner.

3.Keep the condenser and the coil clean.

Check the exterior unit and look at the condenser and the coil. Are these parts clean? Can you spot visible debris? You can wash it with garden hose but in the winter, this is probably not a good idea. Just try dusting off the visible debris. Do this routinely and you should be able to get more out of your air conditioning unit.

4.Clean the interior and exterior unit.

Wipe the surface of the interior unit. Check for signs of rusting. Do the same with the exterior unit as this one is more prone to the accumulation of dirt.

It’s also important to have your air conditioner serviced by a technician from Pro Gas North Shore at least once a year. A lot of people forget to book for an air conditioning service and then pay for it when their unit dies down and they have to do lots of expensive repair and replacement of parts. Many air conditioning issues can be avoid with annual maintenance.
