SINOPSIS.
El detective Zeke Banks (Chris Rock), es un policía de métodos expeditivos con un largo currículum de actos irresponsables a sus espaldas. Pese a su carácter, su jefa la capitana Angie Garza (Marisol Nichols) le pone a trabajar con un nuevo compañero William Schenk (Max Minghella). Ambos comenzarán a investigar la violenta muerte de un miembro de policía, que era gran amigo del primero. Las pistas llevan a un imitador del asesino John Kramer (más conocido como Puzzle o Jigsaw), famoso por sus sádicas trampas y por el reguero de sangre que dejó a sus espaldas.
Sin saber si trata de un imitador o un sucesor designado por el propio Kramer, Banks pide ayuda a su padre que fue su superior hace años en el cuerpo de policía para que le ayude con el peligroso caso. Pero éste deja de dar señales y los atípicos compañeros de departamento descubrirán que se enfrentan una sádica mente maestra que desata una forma retorcida de justicia en espiral en la que, involuntariamente, cada vez están más atrapados.
