1. What is your name/stage name? - CRFT

2. When is your birthday? 2/12/1979 - 43 years old

3. Where are you from? - Houston, TX (Southside). Live in Atlanta.

4. What do you do? - Professionally, I'm a music producer (GDMX Music), label owner (BeatCurve Records), blogging entrepreneur (CraftWrites.com) and published author

5. How long have you been making music? I started piano lessons at age 6, but I've been making music seriously since sophomore year in high school (so about 30 years). I started my first indie record label in 2003 with Shaman Work Recordings, which released music by MF DOOM, Emanon (Aloe Blacc and DJ Exile), John Robinson, and Wale Oyejide featuring J. Dilla.

6. What was your first song/project? - "Before We Begin" (a jazz-inspired lo-fi song) is my first song as CRFT. 'Open Your Eyes' is my debut album.

7. Who’s your inspiration? - Our three children inspire me because of their creativity. Other people's music too: Radiohead, Kanye West, J. Dilla, Madlib, Tame Impala, and Kendrick Lamar always inspire me to try new things sonically. Lastly, I ask the Holy Spirit to guide me during creative processes.

8. What genre of music do you create? Hip-hop (boom bap, lo-fi, and trap)

9. Do you come up with your video concepts? I collaborate with talented guys like Artimio Black on video concepts. The music heavily inspires my visuals.

10. What was it like working with ____Blu____: It's beautiful to see our creative relationship come full circle. I met Blu in the early 2000s! Blu is an amazing lyricist and you can hear his heart on our song "Waiting".

What was it like working with nobigdyl.: Dyl is just so cool. He casually drops amazing bars. He brought so much personality to our hit song "Gratitude".

What was it like working with Aloe Blacc: Aloe is one of the most talented songwriters in the game. During our time writing “Crazy” together, he amazed me with how quickly he put words together with melody and rhythm.
