I’m getting in touch to ask for your support in the ‘Let The Music Play’ campaign that launched this week. A lot of jobs have been affected by the live music industry shutting down, and where other industries have been given more Government support for reopening, there has been no clear plan set out for the future of live music and those that work within it.
On Wednesday 8th July, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak MP will deliver a Summer Economic Update. We are asking you to call on the chancellor to support Let The Music Play, which has the following requests:
'A clear conditional timeline for reopening venues without social distancing', and 'an immediate comprehensive business and employment support package', which should include 'a Government-backed insurance scheme to allow shows to go ahead; an extension of the furlough scheme and help for the self-employed and sole traders to prevent mass redundancies; [and] rent breaks for venues to allow them to reopen.'
