A GLASGOW poker player is hoping for a royal flush to win a high-stakes European competition this week.
John Burns, from Hyndland, is to compete against 100 other players and Togel Online for a £250,000 first prize in the Victor Poker Cup finals. The finals are being recorded for TV and are expected to be one of the most watched poker events in the game's history. John, 33, won his shot at the big time by playing qualifying rounds on the internet organised by leading bookmaker Victor Chandler. He was one of only 14 contestants to qualify online for the finals.
He will pit his wits - and his poker face - against celebrity contestants, including football hard man Vinnie Jones and horse-racing pundit John McCririck. John is also up against formidable professional poker Togel Online aces Dave 'the Devilfish' Ulliott and former poker World Champion Noel Furlong. In his first game, John will also be playing against the organiser of the contest, Victor Chandler, who has entered himself in his own competition. But John, who has only been playing poker for nine months, hopes he won't be over-awed by the world-class competition. He said: "I'm sure the excitement will kick in when I sit down at the table, but right now I'm as cool as a cucumber." He added: "You can't go into these things thinking you're going to lose.
"My strategy is to win. I think all the players are beatable as long as I get my cards and the luck." He said playing against celebrities and the tournament organiser didn't faze him. "I think Victor Chandler can afford to lose, he's got more than enough money. "I'm confident in my abilities. They can all be beaten."
The finals will be shown on Sky Sports in October. More Togel Online
