Chapter 10: The Stable
-
From the secret diary of Isabelle:
Since being banished to the outhouses time has taken on a surreal quality. After our morning chores we are sometimes permitted to doze with the horses. At night, however we are kept awake by the attentions of the stable boy who floods the manger with electric light under which we have to "Do things to each other" as he puts it, in his singularly grubby way.
