Good Night, Moon

In the tranquil night
I say good night
to you moon
casting your pure white light

Across alfalfa fields
come distant soothing sounds
and rising sweet scents
tonight.

I lie by myself
sung under covers
Alone in my room
in the night time world

A faraway dog barks
across alfalfa fields...

in the nighttime world
of moon and stars
the rhythmic hypnotizing sounds
take me far away
to fantasy lands
from solitude I hope
to love...
but love is elusive
alone in my room
it may remain
forever unattained

good night moon
good night moon

A highway truck makes its solitary way
through the starry landscape
and the desert air
Among the outline of jagged mesas
and scattered sagebrush
in the moonlit negative

The highway one day
will take me far away
to a future unknown
to a future vague
in the night time world of
moon and stars ...
