ACCEPT OR REJECT: UK PARLIAMENT TO VOTE ON BREXIT DEAL WITH EU

On Tuesday, January 15, a vote will take place in the UK House of Commons to determine whether London will agree to a Brexit agreement with the EU.

The day before, the House of Lords criticized the terms of the document approved by the government of Theresa May with Brussels. 321 MPs voted against, 152 in favor.

Meanwhile, the European Union emphasizes that they will not agree to revise the terms of the deal. If parliament does not support it, the United Kingdom can expect a "hard" Brexit.

On Tuesday, January 15, a vote will be held in the UK House of Commons on an agreement with the EU on the conditions for the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union.

The government of the country supports the deal, which the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Theresa May managed to conclude last year. However, according to many British politicians, the document contains a number of weaknesses and does not protect the interests of the state.

At the same time, Brussels emphasizes that this agreement is the only one possible. Thus, if he is not supported in parliament, Britain can expect the so-called hard Brexit.

The day before, Theresa May’s project was not supported by a vote in the House of Lords. The majority - 321 people - voted in favor of the proposal of Angela Smith, leader of the Labor Party in the upper house of the British Parliament, 152 voted against.

The document Smith, which was supported in the House of Lords, expresses regret over the terms of the government's deal with the EU.

"Result: The House of Lords votes 321 in favor of Angela Smith's proposal to reject the outcome of the deal and to regret the terms of the government deal regarding future relations with the EU," the upper house of the British Parliament said on Twitter.

The document, which was initiated by Smith, also calls on members of the House of Commons to "firmly reject" the possibility of Britain leaving the EU without a deal.

The vote came after a House debate between Theresa May and opposition leader Jeremy Corbin. Then the prime minister called on the deputies to support the agreement with the EU "for the sake of preserving the faith of the British people in democratic institutions." At the same time, Corbin criticized the head of government and called for early elections.

Earlier, the government postponed a vote on the UK-EU Brexit deal. Initially, it was supposed to take place at the end of December, but May had to postpone it to mid-January in order to convince the deputies to support the document during the parliamentary holidays.

This decision was sharply criticized by the opposition. So, on December 18, Corbyn called on the House of Commons to vote for a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister.

“It is quite obvious that it is unacceptable and unacceptable to wait for a decisive vote for a month on the most important issue concerning the future of the state,” he said.

May herself rates this agreement as "the best option." She announced this after negotiations on November 25, when London and Brussels agreed on the text of the document.

“The British don't want to waste time arguing about Brexit anymore. They want the correct fulfillment of their will. I will submit this deal to the House of Commons when I am confident that the best option has been reached, ”she said
