Convicted police-threatening Anonymous gangster Scott Duane Fare spearheads drama-death-threat campaign against Twitter’s Jack Dorsey.

Twitter, designed to reflect all the human passions that can be typed into a sound-bite, has always reflected as many aggressive impulses as it has impulses of fascination.

The ongoing Tweet wars reveal the prescience of Alfred Hitchcock’s movie The Birds: a constant roar of angry cheeping can always be heard in the background as you browse through the website.  Occasionally you may blunder into the fray yourself with an awkwardly worded tweet, and experience hundreds of crazed tweeters diving in to peck your face off – the dreaded Tweetstorm.

If things are really going your way, the President of the United States of America may show up and peck you to bits personally.

The unusual breadth of Twitter has allowed some unprecedented developments.  Fairly early in its history, the website developed a vigilante Maoist-style people’s police in the form of the masked Anonymous movement.  This group of angries undertook to limit the website’s permissiveness about freedom of speech, and made its name, at first, by attacking the Scientology movement.

Anonymous adherents involved in such attacks showed a surprising uniformity.  Nearly all used the same Guy Fawkes mask as insignia, and they spoke the same distinct litany of stereotyped slang threat phrases: ‘umad, bro?’, ‘bwahahaha’, ‘we do not forgive, we do not forget, expect us,’ ‘butthurt,’ ‘fuck with one of us, fuck with us all.’  They called each other ‘brother’ and ‘sister,’ and found ways of organizing diffusely, so that they could evade corporate responsibility even as their anonymity blocked personal responsibility.  Objectively, they appeared to be as a much a cult as Scientology was, but they didn’t charge money or hire lawyers.  Although most people recognized that many of their actions were criminal and often motivated purely by sadism (‘lulz’ in their own language), they had their fans, particularly among would-be hip journalists who were trying to stay current with the computer world.

In 2012-2013, Anonymous members based in Twitter organized illegal DDOS and hacking campaigns in a concerted attempt to eliminate all online speech by law-abiding people who admitted sexual attraction to minors.  In response, defenders of the adamantly legal, anti-offending component of that sexual minority established an opposition beachhead on Twitter.  They parried a heavy onslaught of hacking and harassment in order to put forward their anti-abuse, but pro-discussion, point of view.  Twitter, much to the astonishment of the Anonymites, tolerated these accounts provided that they didn’t engage in or promote child sexual exploitation.  These ‘non-offending minor attracted person’ (NOMAP) accounts soon became interlinked with researchers and clinicians in the mental health professions, as I outlined at https://justpaste.it/5e8z6.

The presence of the persistently legal NOMAPs was ultimately delisted as a major concern by some Anonymous members, but as the movement drifted to the right under the influence of what can now safely be called the Trump-Putin election ticket, an Anonymous wing dedicated to classic conspiracy theories, inspired by long-term Anon account @AKilluminati, began to build bridges to a group of what might be described as sex-scandalizing, far right religious medievalists.  These people, led by such luminaries as Mellisa Zaccaria (https://justpaste.it/PizzaZaccaria) and pro-Putin campaigner Liz Crokin (https://justpaste.it/18t8f), unrelentingly tweeted visions of Democrat politicians and Hollywood stars raping and eating large numbers of caged infants, led on by devotion to Satan.  (I am not exaggerating this in any way.)  These Salem witch-detectors of the internet were single-minded in declaring all the NOMAPs to be deceivers, led on by Satan, who were clearly trying to ‘normalize pedophilia,’ despite their statements of being completely opposed to child sexual exploitation.  In retrospect, it seems inevitable that the like-minded ConspirAnons and Elite Witchfinders would get together.

In the last two weeks, a ‘no politics’ non-partisan group consisting of right-wing ConspirAnons, old school Maoist lefty-Anons, and ultra-strident right-medievalist ‘Dragons’ of ‘#TheDragonsDen’ of witch-finders, have broken away from their established pattern of intimidating NOMAPs directly.

They have begun a new campaign of harassing Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey directly for his allegedly satanic practice of allowing NOMAP free speech. (See illustrations below.)

To give these allegations some impact, the participants in this #OpTwittergate operation (the ‘op’ signifies a consensus-ratified ‘official’ Anonymous operation) have attempted to rhetorically fuse the non-offending NOMAPs with the persistent deluge of  mostly southern Asian accounts (Arabia through Indonesia) taking advantage of lax regional online law enforcement to launch short-lived child pornography exchanging accounts on the website.  These accounts, unlike those of the NOMAPs, are usually deleted by Twitter within a day (occasionally two) of their being reported via Twitter’s special CSE (child sexual exploitation) report form, or any other means of contact with Twitter Support.  The people involved in initiating such accounts, however, are numerous enough that some child porn can almost always be found by any vigilante who goes looking.  Indeed, since most people, including NOMAPs, avoid any accounts with names suggestive of child pornography, networks of hundreds of such accounts can briefly build up over a few weeks before someone reports them all to website administration.  Clearly these accounts operated by bold offenders are in no way related to the educational and help-related accounts operated by anti-offending NOMAPs, but because the various accounts have attraction to minors as a common factor, they can be merged into a single Thought-Witch by anyone wishing to believe that all minor-attracted people compose an automatic devious conspiracy.

The #OpTwittergate attack and an interlinked effort called #OpJack (the ‘Jack’ is, of course, Jack Dorsey) feature a series of loaded questions that Jack is supposed to tweet the gang an answer to. Examples are: “Want to know why you are protecting the pedophiles!?” “Do you eat children too?”  “Do you make money off being a Pedo Protector?” “Do you make money allowing pedophiles to make $$ off selling child porn?”  These begging-the-questions are accompanied by a series of increasingly threatening-looking ‘death threat’ meme images that are typical of Anonymous and Alt-Right intimidation voodoo efforts.

The most prominent emerging leader of #OpTwittergate on the Anonymous side is @scottie79er, known in the offline world as recently released Texas convict Scott Duane Fare, aged 39.  Fare was arrested for assaulting police officers and public servants, evading arrest, and making an abusive 911 call in August, 2015.  He had gone into the McLennan County courthouse and threatened deputies there while proclaiming his Anonymous membership.  He made various demands related to ongoing and past court cases, and threatened to post police officers’ personal information on his Anonymous-related YouTube channel.  He posted a YouTube in which he cursed at Waller County officers while expressing rage about the in-custody death of Sandra Bland, a black woman who'd been pulled over for a trivial traffic matter, been roughed up, and held in a prison cell where she was later found dead.  Anonymous had claimed online that it had released internal police information evidencing Bland's murder by police, in contrast to the suicide claimed as her official cause of death (https://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/30/us/jail-video-of-sandra-bland-aims-to-dispel-rumors-about-her-death.html, https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/sandra-bland-anonymous-release-video-6147333,

On Aug. 4, 2015, according to Tommy Witherspoon of the Waco Tribune, Fare was “caught on video at the (McLennan) county jail around 7 p.m., cursing and threatening to kill deputies.”  As police moved in to arrest him, he fled, and later, at a roadblock, ended up dragging a police officer with his car a short distance by the hand.  Fare was released after three years in prison on July 7, 2018, and was very quick to resume his gangland threatening actions, this time against Jack Dorsey.

Fare claims, absurdly, that his animus against pedophiles derives from being sexually assaulted as an adult during his military service by a higher-ranking soldier.  Military authorities did not accept his complaint.  He has posted the name and photograph of the officer he accuses, but no action appears to have been taken.

The question that anyone observing this attempted Tweetstorm must be asking now is whether Dorsey will experience sufficient pressure from the clearly disturbed Fare, plus other Anonymous gangsters and outrage-panicking witchfinders, that he will be moved to narrow his free speech policies about lawful accounts.  So far, neither he nor Twitter Support has responded to the campaign of targeted harassment against his account.

There is also the slim chance that he will take the opposite response, and react against the ugly #OpTwittergate campaign by finally cracking down on those using the website to organize unlawful activities.  At least one supporter of the NOMAP community, Kamil Beylant, @securityconcern, has suggested that Anonymous be banned from Twitter, not as individuals, but on a ‘gang colors’ basis as used in schools and civic institutions in other communities troubled by criminal gangs. That would mean that any accounts featuring the characteristic insignia and/or phrasings of Anonymous in ways traditionally used to coordinate cybercriminal and intimidation activities would be banned.  Likewise, accounts issuing mock death threats and death-threat-like insinuations would be banned.

Fare and his fellow threateners have given Dorsey until Oct. 1 to reply to their questions.  In the meantime, they have begun attempts to intimidate his contacts and Twitter’s advertisers.  Fare has personally taken on organizing the anti-advertiser campaign.  YouTubes set up to promote the campaign have mostly received fewer than 100 views.  Only one thing is certain: if the campaign against Dorsey fizzles, Fare will be out there, secure in his role as a typical Anonymous gangster, threatening someone on behalf of his gang. At least until the next time he has an urge to go in and yell at some people in uniform.
