a subsidiary of Finmeccanica, is an Italian power engineering company. In December 2001 the missile business of Alenia Marconi Systems (AMS), a joint Finmeccanica/BAE Systems company, was merged with other European missile manufacturers to form MBDA.

2004 : the establishment of SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems.

SELEX S&AS now operates as SELEX Galileo following a merger with Galileo Avionica S.p.A. (another Finmeccanica company) in January 2008.

 

AREVA

world-leading company in nuclear energy;  It was created on 3 September 2001, by the merger of Framatome (now AREVA NP), Cogema (now AREVA NC) and Technicatome (now AREVA TA).

German company Siemens also retains 34% of the shares of AREVA's subsidiary, AREVA NP.

AREVA is part of the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP) alliance, along with the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), Washington Group International and BWX. 

in 2000 the company expanded its market leadership by acquiring Raytheon Engineers & Constructors.

Founded in 1958 by several companies of the French industrial giant The Schneider Group along with Empain, Merlin Gérin, and the American Westinghouse, in order to license Westinghouse's pressurized water reactor (PWR) technology and develop a bid for Chooz 1 in Belgium. 

In 1998 Westinghouse sells its nuclear energy business, to BNFL which sold it to Toshiba in 2006 which still operates it as Westinghouse Electric Company today.

In December 1970 Toshiba began the construction of unit 3 of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant which was damaged in the Fukushima I nuclear accidents on March 14, 2011.

AREVA owns two mines in Arlit, Niger.

 

Atmea

is a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Areva.

On May 18, 1974, India detonated a nuclear bomb made from plutonium manufactured by the CIRUS research reactor [supplied by Canada in 1954]built by AECL in 1956.

 

Atomic Energy of Canada Limited or AECL

Built CANDU facilities in India, South Korea, Argentina, Romania, and the People's Republic of China. It is a member of the World Nuclear Association trade group (*2001) [formerly the Uranium Institute (*1975) ].

 

 

Babcock & Wilcox Company

hold the contract to manage the Pantex plant in Texas, alongside Honeywell and Bechtel Corporation. They are also a part of Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC

 

Bechtel

In 2003, The New Yorker ran an article revealing that the bin Laden family had passively invested several million dollars in The Fremont Group, a private equity fund owned by the Bechtel family.

The late Caspar Weinberger served as the United States Secretary of Defense under Ronald Reagan. Prior to holding this position, Weinberger was the Vice President, Director, and General Counsel of the Bechtel Group of companies.

 

Combustion Engineering

In 1990 C-E became a wholly owned subsidiary of Asea Brown Boveri (ABB), a Swiss-Swedish multinational conglomerate based in Zurich and one of the largest electrical engineering companies in the world.

The boiler and fossil fuel businesses were purchased by ALSTOM in 2000, and the nuclear business was purchased by Westinghouse Electric Company also in 2000.

 

GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy

Global nuclear alliance created by General Electric and Hitachi.

In 2004 GE bought 80% of Universal Pictures from Vivendi.

In March 2010, General Electric (GE) announced that the company is planning to sell its 20.85% stake in Turkey-based Garanti Bank.

 

Hitachi, Ltd. 

a Japanese multinational corporation, listed in 2009 as the third largest technological company by revenue.

Parent of the Hitachi Group (Hitachi Gurūpu) as part of the larger DKB Group companies, which emerged after World War II and coalesced around the Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank [merged with Fuji Bank and the Industrial Bank of Japan to form Mizuho Financial Group in 2000].

In 1943 Dai-Ichi Bank and Mitsui Bank, a Mitsui zaibatsu company, merged to form Teikoku Bank.

After the end of WW2 , Toshiba, Toyota Motors, and Suntory, once part of the Mitsui Group [founded by Mitsui Takatoshi (1622–1694)], became independent.

 

INVAP S.E.

is an Argentine high-technology company.

Created in 1976, as a spin off of the Argentinean Atomic Energy Commission [created 1950 with help of president Juan Domingo Perón, formerly part of the so called Revolution of '43]. 

INVAP is the only company in Latin America certified by NASA to supply space technologies.

Argentina currently has two operational nuclear power plants,: the 335-MWe Atucha I built by Germany's (Siemens) and the 600-MWe Embalse built by Canadian CANDU

Mitsubishi FBR Systems, Inc.

formed in 2007 by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries , core companies of Mitsubishi Group

During the Second World War, Mitsubishi manufactured aircraft , the Mitsubishi A6M ("Zero") was a primary Japanese naval fighter, including in kamikaze attacks.

 

Sellafield Ltd 

manages the decommissioning of many of the UK's nuclear assets under contract to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority

In 2008, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority contracted the management of Sellafield Ltd to Nuclear Management Partners, a consortium of US company URS, British company AMEC, and AREVA of France.

In 2001, AMEC, which also operates the North Sea oilrigs for Shell and British Petroleum, had just completed a project to strengthen and renovate a section of the Pentagon, Wedge 1, when the building was officially attacked. The damaged area is between Wedges 1 and 2. 

 

Siemens AG

Founded by Werner von Siemens on 12 October 1847. Based on the telegraph, his invention used a needle to point to the sequence of letters, instead of using Morse code. The company, then called Telegraphen-Bauanstalt von Siemens & Halske, opened its first workshop on October 12.

In 1969, Siemens formed Kraftwerk Union with AEG by pooling their nuclear power businesses.

In 1999, Siemens' semiconductor operations were spun off into a new company known as Infineon Technologies. Also, Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG formed part of Fujitsu Siemens Computers AG in that year.

In 2001, Siemens formed joint venture Framatome with Areva SA of France by merging much of their nuclear businesses.

In March 2009, it announced to form an alliance with Rosatom [successor of the Ministry of Nuclear Engineering and Industry of the USSR] of Russia to engage in nuclear-power activities.

Rosatom controls nuclear power holding.Atomenergoprom plus ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. which mines uranium in Russia and Kazakhstan. 

In June 2009, ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. acquired 16.6% of shares in the Canadian uranium mining company Uranium One in exchange of 50% in Karetau uranium mining project, a joint venture with Kazatomprom.

Siemens is building the Velaro high speed trains in service in Changsha, China.

 

Toshiba Corporation

Before World War II, Toshiba was a member of the Mitsui Group zaibatsu (family-controlled vertical monopoly). 

in late 2007, Toshiba's logo replaced the former Discover Card logo on one of the screens atop One Times Square. It displays the iconic New Year's countdown on its screen.

In January 2009, Toshiba acquired the HDD business of Fujitsu.

 

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC

Since 2005 owned and operated by the Toshiba Group.

In 2001, Westinghouse took over a company named Logitest in France that specialized in non-destructive inspection of nuclear steam generator plant for EDF. From there Westinghouse started to expand its business in France. The company is called Westinghouse Electrique France.

In August 2007 Toshiba sold 10% to Kazatomprom [founded in 1997], the national uranium company for the Republic of Kazakhstan, for US$540 million.

Kazatomprom also represents Kazakhstan in the joint ventures with Russian Tekhsnabexport, French AREVA and Canadian Cameco [the world's largest publicly traded uranium company, operates several uranium mines in North America and Kazakhstan].

Gazprom

Created in 1989 when the Ministry of Gas Industry of the Soviet Union transformed itself into a corporation.

In June 2007, TNK-BP, a subsidiary of BP plc agreed to sell its stake in Kovykta field in Siberia to Gazprom.

Gazprom also controls Gazprombank and OJSC Gazprom Space Systems , a Russian communications satellite operator and developer.
