MentorConnect was initiated out of a dire need 'young people and small entrepreneurs' in India did not have a support ecosystem at all. In 2006, Ashwin Bhambri then in his late twenties identified this problem and decided to do something about it but putting his money [saved up during his corporate life] and marketing expertise into creating India's first organized mentoring community.
The objective was simply to do something that brings change for the better and the following was achieved:
a. the initiative engaged 5000 mentors and 15,000 mentees
b. It was later supported by the Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India
c. the cause and its functioning was well received by the media & larger Industry ecosystems
d. the concept of Organized Mentoring In India was established and its slowing blending into mainstream culture
