A story relayed by a Muhajir regarding a friend he once knew, who joined the ISIS group.

There was an old man with a group of Muhajireen who went to Syria. He was known for his strictness and stubbornness, with his limited knowledge in Deen since he started to follow sunnah back in his country.

The man's only source for knowledge was lectures, given by a mujahid who conducted a self sacrifice operation in Pakistan. This brother who attained shahada in Pakistan, had audio lectures making Takfeer upon Shaykah bin Baz Rahimahullah. Though, before conducting his final operation this brother left a letter asking forgiveness and advicing his Ikwah to not follow any of his mistakes and that he repents and make baraa/disassociation from it.

Once this old man was listening to the lecture, which was regarding takfeer upon Shaykh bin Baz Rahimahullah while rest of the mujahideen tiredly went to bed. He started to listen to this lecture loudly, without headphones so that everyone else would listen. When I heard takfeer made upon Shaykh bin Baz Rahimahullah from the lecture I forbade him to listen to it and adviced him to stop playing it out loud. He argued bitterly. And I clearly told him that I don't believe that Shaykh bin Baz is a kafir, nor I do I want to listen to these people who spoke without knowledge.

He got really mad at me and he abstained from speaking to me ever since. And never attended any prayer in Jama't that I was the Imam of since that night. Furthermore, days later, he stopped praying with most of us, and prayed alone.

He didn't attend salat in masjid, because his opinon is all the masaajid in Syria are upon bidah.

As days went by he abstained from most of the works of mujahideen apart from going for short ribaat in a near by place.

He kept a low profile whilst other mujahideen were busy. And constantly leaked secrets and informations about mujahideen to the police in his country and to news reporters.

After few months into this he was suddenly gone. He joined the likes of him in Jamat Dawlah. His Syrian old wife told that during those days he was constantly in contact with his friend in Dawla, and he was openly telling her and others Jabhat Nusra was not good.

Who are Muslims and who are Kuffar?

Before he fled, he told his new old wife (which he married in Syria) that she is a jaahil murtaddaand so is her whole family. He made takfeer upon her whole family based upon the fact her brother (Quran Ustadh in Syria who was teaching him tajweed) was an old mujahid of Ikwan manhaj, from the early stage of resistance in Syria.

He made takfeer upon the whole of Saudi Arabia and all other Muslim countries including Syria. So the poor wife questioned, why he was here in a kafir land amongst the kuffar, which he had no answer to.

He left her at a hanging situation when he left to join Dawlah. The poor wife did not know whether she was divorced or not. Nor did she know she was divorced because of him calling her a murtadda. He only informed a brother that he does not want his Syrian wife in Raqqah. Later again informing her through an ansari that she's divorced. She is uncertain of the number of times he has divorced her and taken her back as he wishes.

Recently, one of the brother's made contact with him tried to advice him and tell him to come back, but when he called him, the man bluntly told: "You people in Jabha should be killed".

Another saddest thing I wanted to mention is his old wife back in his country. She thinks he has been guided to the straight path since he joined Dawlah. She claims he wont be wrong as he is older than most of other mujahideen here.

Therefore, being old he has the most knowledge. Also, he is the best of mujahid as he hasn't married from Syria and is focused only on Jihad. So, if he's in Dawla then they are the true group of people!

The wife used to always say, "he didn't marry from Syria, how truthful!"

Until now she doesn't know about it nor does she know of the bad treatment he gave to the wife in Syria.

May Allah guide us all to the straight path!
