Blind support - Hooliganism v.s. brotherhood.

Dr. Haani As-Sibaai, Shaykh Husayn ibn Mahmud, Dr. Muhammad Al-Jazouli and other scholars or Muslim intellectuals who supported and defended IS in the past, and still support them in certain instances. Distance themselves from IS and speak out against them when they show(ed) deviation and commit crimes or mistakes; without fearing a defaming & slander campaign.

The lesson we must learn from this: don't let your ego, popularity & peer pressure stand in the way of accepting & declaring the truth. An do not show blind support like a hooligan supporting his football club. When AQAP soldiers killed innocent people in a military hospital in December 2013, the AQAP leadership distanced themselves strongly from this mistake. So even a leader must distance himself from the mistakes of his organization, let alone a mere supporter of an organization. Even if you don't regard IS as deviant sect: its still obligated to distance yourself from their crimes & mistakes, instead of defending it.

The Prophet showed us an important Sunnah when he said "I am free of what Khalid did!" After Khalid killed innocent Muslims by mistake. The Prophet showed us that we must distance ourselves from the crimes or mistakes our (Mujahid) brothers commit (intentionally or not). This is real brotherhood, like the Prohet said "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one". When he is the oppressor, we help him by preventing him from oppressing others

And Allah knows best.
