Who are the "scholars" who support ISIS?

Note: "Abul-Munthir Ash-Shanqiti" have retracted his support for ISIS, and have openly said that he never signed this statement.

A statement has been released called: “A statement of brotherhood in iman, in support of the islamic state” which they say includes: “A statement from scholars ('ulamah) and student of knowledge (talaba al-'ilm) in support of the islamic state of iraq and sham”.

So let us see who these “Ulama” are, shall we? (The statements of students are of no value in issues like these besides moral support.)
And please remember the golden rule, a scholar ('alim) is someone that the other 'ulama has stated him to be. If you can't find any other (known and recognized 'alim) saying that so-and-so person is also an 'alim, then be aware!

1- Abul-Munthir ash-Shanqiti

An anonymous person who nobody knows who he studied under or his status in islamic knowledge. And two of the most well known and recognized scholars/ulamah with regards to Jihadi matters, Abu Basir at-Tartousi and Abu Muhammad al-Maqdisi has written strong words against him and his outragous fatawa (with regards to the Syrian issue), and that they are bereft of any knowledge or understanding of this religion.

2- Abu Hamaam Bakr bin Abdil-Aziz al-Athary

And person is most likely Turki Benali (Abu Sufyan as-Sulami) from Bahrain, who his own teachers have said that he should stay silent and stop writing, and gain some knowledge before he speaks!

This is what one of his teachers (Shaykh 'Umar al-Hadouchi who is a known and recognized scholar) said:
Question to Umar Hadouchi: "Shaykh, what's your opinion on the one who wrote the book called "Mudd al-Ayadi li-bay'ati al-Baghdadi - Extending the hand to give bay'ah to al-Baghdadi" and which says that it's obligatory for the leaders to give bay'ah to him since he's the khalifah for the muslims? (The book is by Turki Benali)"
Answer by al-Hadouchi: " What is for him is that he gains some knowledge, not that he writes anything (books etc.), what is for him is that he stay silent not that he talks. For this book expresses the view that whoever doesn't give bay'ah has died a death of jahiliyyah. No, no, no."https://twitter.com/tooyytte/status/428624055248642048/photo/1

And al-Maqdisi said the same criticism towards him as he said towards ash-Shanqiti (nr 1 on the list), that his books/fatawa has no knowledge nor understanding of the religion. This is from the english translation of al-Maqdisis article:
“...Possesses no intellect, no knowledge, no understanding, nor sight, nor feels no anguish over the blood of the muslims ”

3- Ma'moon Abdul-Hameed Haatim

He is one who handles the da'wa affairs with AQAP (and he only represent himself in this issue, not the whole group), how he suddenly became a 'alim is beyond me. Where is his tazkiyyat and ijazaat? Who has said that he's a scholar?

4- Abu Hudhayfah bin Abdur-Rahmaan al-Hiraabi al-Leeby
Reading his biography (found here: http://abo-hudifa.blogspot.com) one is amazed that he should be considered an 'alim! It says that he ”studied maliki fiqh” for an unspecified time, then that he studied the books of Ibn Taymiyyah and his students and other books.
And it says, that he declined to mention any of his teachers due to security reasons! So we have a 'alim who we can't even know his teachers, nor do we know any other scholars that can vouch for him!

5- Nasir al-Thuqayl
Who is he in relation to islamic knowledge, and who said he is a scholar anyways? This guy has since november 2013 cursed and accused the other jihadi groups in Syria for being sahawat, traitors and agents to the west/gulf. All this without any evidence, and this was before the latest infighting began (which ISIS claims was totally unprovoked... yeah just call the other groups traitors and murtadun, that won't stir up any bad feelings at all.)

6- Abdul-Majeed bin Mahmood al-Hutary ar-Reemi
Reading his biography, I see no signs that he should be considered an 'alim. It says, that he studied under Shaykh Ibn Jibreen, Shaykh Muhammad al-Jizani and other scholars. For how long? On which subjects? And again, who said from the scholars that he is in fact, a scholar?

7- Abu al-Munthir Umar Mahdy Aal Zaydaan (From Jordan)
Again, who said that he is a scholar? Rather, the scholars have spoken against him! Here is al-Maqdisi speaking against some of his extremist views: http://www.tawhed.ws/r?i=21101302
And also, you have what Dr. Sami al-'Uraydi (Shar'i leader with Jabhat an-Nusrah and also from Jordan) said, that he (Zaydan) has lied and accused without any evidence, and that he challenge him for a mubahala.

I think that this will be enough for now, and I don't feel the need to do 8 to 20 since it's usually the most knowledgeable that's on top of lists like this. In any case, it's upon them to prove that these are scholars/'ulamah.

Compare this list, to the ones that have heavily criticized ISIS, like Sulaymaan al-'Alwaan, Abdullah as-Sa'd, Yousef al-Ahmad, Abdul-Aziz at-Turayfi, Abu Muhammad al-Maqdisi, Abu Qataadah al-Filistini, Abu Basir at-Tartousi, Umar al-Hadouchi to mention just a few... All of these are well known, recognized and proven scholars that have been recommended by other scholars, known for speaking the truth and supporting jihad and mujahidin.

And remember what the Prophet (saw) said:
يَأْتِي فِي آخِرِ الزَمَانِ قَوْمٌ حُدَثَاءُ األَسْنَانِ، سُفَهَاءُ األَحْالمِ، يَقُوْلُوْنَ مِنْ قَوْلِ خَيْر البَرِيَةِ

“There will come towards the end of time a people who will be young in age, having reckless and deficient intellects. They will speak with the statements of the best of creation..."

And Allah knows best.
