What is meaning of word RAFA in verse 4:158 of Noble Quran?

Meaning of RAFA is to RAISE in honor/Spiritual exaltation , and never to raise mortal body of flesh and bone alive to Heaven which is another dimension of Spiritual Realm & no any physical body can enter in that Realm.

Quran has its own built-in dictionary & so Quran explains itself and Quran is not in need of any other external source to understand it. If You will use any external source, you will never understand Quran correctly even if you live on this planet 1000 years.

Quran explains itself and it does not need any external source to explain it. Rafa of 4:158 is used many time in Quran. Its meaning is always Spiritual exaltation and NEVER EVER to raise body of someone up to Sky. Quran explains itself. It clears all confusions of a Truthful researcher: Read below. Quran explains itself

See also the words in following verses Rafa Hu,Rafa'ana, waRafa, Narfa'O, Turfa, MatroofaHa, YarfaHu, Marfoo'at, & rafi'O which are all derived from word Rafa that is used in verse 4:158 & in many other verses in Quran. As we know that Quran explains itself. But Fanatics want to support their fiction in one or other way.
Let we see how Noble Quran, How Glorious Quran, How Furqan-ul-Haq, How Quran ul Majeed, how Book of Huda, How Final BOOK of Allah sets the things CRYSTAL CLEAR. Let we analyze now, what is the TRUE meaning of Arabic word "Rafa" that is used by Allah Jalla Aala in verse 4:158 for the matter of Nabi Jesus/Eisa son of Mary.

Does it mean to raise some one up to heavens alive with his physical body, or does its mean to exalt someone in his ranks - Spiritual exaltation? Let now analyze according to the principle that QURAN EXPLAINS ITSELF:

Meanings of the Arabic Word "Rafa" in Quranic verse 4:158:

بَل رَّفَعَهُ اللّهُ إِلَيْهِ وَكَانَ اللّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا

Quran verse 4:158: "nay, God exalted him [Raised him in ranks] unto Himself and God is indeed almighty, wise".

Allah Kabir-ul-Muta'aal may sanctify soul of Dr. Muhammad Asad, who regarding verse 4:157 & 4:158 have also commented as follow:

Cf. 3:55, where God says to Jesus, "Verily, I shall cause thee to die, and shall exalt thee unto Me." The verb rafa ahu (lit., "he raised him" or "elevated him") has always, whenever the act of raf' ("elevating") of a human being is attributed to God, the meaning of "honoring" or "exalting". Nowhere in the Qur'an is there any warrant for the popular belief that God has "taken up" Jesus bodily, in his lifetime, into heaven. The expression "God exalted him unto Himself" in the above verse denotes the elevation of Jesus to the realm of God's special grace - a blessing in which all prophets partake, as is evident from 19:57, where the verb rafa nahu ("We exalted him") is used with regard to the Prophet Idris. (See also Muhammad 'Abduh in Manar III, 316 f., and VI, 20f.) The "nay" (bal) at the beginning of the sentence is meant to stress the contrast between the belief of the Jews that they had put Jesus to a shameful death on the Cross and the fact of God's having "exalted him unto Himself".(Quran Ref: 4:158 )

4:158: Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is exalted in Power, Wise;
Some examples from Noble Quran for Arabic Word "Rafa" that is used in verse 4:158 for Son of Mary - Pls note, Quran explains itself:
Quran explains itself

Noble Quran: 43:32 "Is it they who would portion out the Mercy of thy Lord? It is We Who portion out between them their livelihood in the life of this world: and We raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may command work from others. But the Mercy of thy Lord is better than the (wealth) which they amass".

وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَكُمْ خَلاَئِفَ الأَرْضِ وَرَفَعَ بَعْضَكُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَاتٍ
لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِي مَا آتَاكُمْ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ سَرِيعُ الْعِقَابِ وَإِنَّهُ لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Quran 6:165: For, He it is who [Allah] has made you inherit the earth, and has raised some of you by degrees/ranks above others, so that He might try you by means of what He has bestowed upon you. Verily, thy Sustainer is swift in retribution: yet, behold, He is indeed much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace"

[Note: in this verse 6:165, not just derivation but exactly same Arabic word "Rafa" is used that is used in verse 4:158 for Prophet Jesus/Eisa Son of Mary. Meaning are clear, which are "Raise in ranks" and not to raise some one in heavens with his physical body"

وَتِلْكَ حُجَّتُنَا آتَيْنَاهَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَى قَوْمِهِ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَاتٍ مَّن نَّشَاء إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ

Quran 6:83: Allah Jalla Aala says "And this was Our argument which We vouchsafed unto Abraham against his people: [for] We do raise in ranks whom We will. Verily, thy Sustainer is wise, all-knowing"

[Note: Pls note that Allah has used Arabic word "Narfa'o" in above--given verse which is derived from Arabic word "Rafa" that is used in verse 4:158 about Jesus. So raise is, in ranks and its never mean to raise some one with his mortal physical body to heavens as dumb brainless blind followers fanatics believe]

Another Example from Quran:
وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ

Quran:94:4 "And [have We not] raised thee high in dignity? [Note: It does not mean that we raise your physical Body!]

فِي بُيُوتٍ أَذِنَ اللَّهُ أَن تُرْفَعَ وَيُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُ فِيهَا بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالْآصَالِ

Quran 24:36: "IN THE HOUSES which God has allowed to be raised (in Status) so that His name be remembered in them, there [are such as] extol His limitless glory at morn and evening"
{Note: Now will fanatics believe that Allah has raised his houses physically up to heavens?}

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِ كَافِرُونَ

Quran 34:34: For [thus it is:] whenever We sent a warner to any community, those of its High ranked people [Like Choudries, Thakirs, Lords in their societies, Tribal chiefs, their big ones] would declare, "Behold, we deny that there is any truth in [what you claim to be] your message!"

[Note: Real High ranks are the ranks given by Allah and Not the ranks of worldly society - Please Note that the Red-highlighted Arabic word Matrafuha in above-given verse is is compounded form of Arabic root Word Rafa or Marfooha]

وَكَذَلِكَ مَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَا
إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءنَا عَلَى أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَى آثَارِهِم مُّقْتَدُونَ

Quran 43:23: "And thus it is: whenever We sent, before thy time, a warner to any community, those of its High ranked people [Like Choudries, Thakirrs,Lords in their societies, their big ones] would always say, "Behold, we found our forefathers agreed on what to believe - and, verily, it is but in their footsteps that we follow!"

in verse Quranic 12:76 in Sura Yousaf [Joseph] also the word نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَاتٍ is used. Which mean to raise in Ranks and not to raise someone bodily.

[Note: Pls note that Allah has used Arabic word "Narfa'o" in above-given verse which is derived from Arabic word "Rafa" that is also used in verse 4:158 about Jesus. So raise is, in ranks and its never mean to raise someone with his mortal physical body to heavens as dumb brainless blind followers fanatics believe].

Quran 35:10: "He who desires might and glory [ought to know that] all might and glory belong to God [alone]. Unto Him ascend all good words, and the righteous deed does He exalts in ranks. But as for those who cunningly devise evil deeds - suffering severe awaits them; and all their devising is bound to come to naught.

[Note: The red-highlighted Arabic word "Yarfa'o" used in above-given verse is derived from Arabic word "Rafa" which is also used in verse 4:158]

مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍ

Quran verse 80:14:"Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy".

[Note: Here again in verse 80:14, Arabic word "MarfooAa" is used which is derived from Arabic word "Rafa" which is used in verse 4:158 for Prophet Eisa Son of Mary. Clearly reader can see, its meaning is "to exalt/raise in Ranks/dignity" and NOT to raise with body.]

Quran 35:10 If any do seek for glory and power,- to Allah belong all glory and power. To Him mount up (all) Words of Purity: It is He Who exalts each Deed of Righteousness. Those that lay Plots of Evil,- for them is a Penalty terrible; and the plotting of such will be void (of result).

وَرَفَعَ أَبَوَيْهِ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ

Quran: 112:100 (Asad) And he raised his parents to the highest place of honor…..

وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُ بِهَا
Quran 7:176 (Asad) Now had We so willed, We could indeed have exalted him by means of those [messages]: but he always…..

رَفِيعُ الدَّرَجَاتِ ذُو الْعَرْشِ يُلْقِي الرُّوحَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ
عَلَى مَن يَشَاء مِنْ عِبَادِهِ لِيُنذِرَ يَوْمَ التَّلَاقِ

Quran 40:15: Exalted is He [Allah] in His Attributes, and the Exalter of ranks He is, the Lord of the Throne, Master of the Supreme Control. By His Command has He sent the Revelation to whomever He chose from among His servants, in order that He may warn mankind of the Day of Meeting. (The Day when all of them meet together and meet their Lord.)

Note: In verse 40:15, the Arabic word "Rafi'O" is used and this word is derivation of Arabic word "Rafa" which is used in verse 4:158. We again see here, its meanings is Exaltation, and not to lift or raise someone to heavens with his physical body. In Verse Aytul Kursi, Quran says, His [Allah's] thrown is all over everywhere. "Waase-aa, Kursiyo Hus'sama-Wate Wal-Ard". So do not believe in Wahabi / Salfi blasphemy that claim that Allah is sitting on a thrown like worldly kings in any remote part in Sky. It is Kufar to believe this.

Again we see in verse 2:253: [Hear again Rafa is used in raise of Ranks, not body]

"Some of these apostles have We endowed more highly than others .....

Quran 3:55 (Asad) Lo! God said: "O Jesus! Verily, I shall cause thee to die, and shall exalt thee unto Me, and cleanse thee of [the presence of] those who are bent on denying the truth; and I shall place those who follow thee [far] above those who are bent on denying the truth, unto the Day of Resurrection. In the end, unto Me you all must return, and I shall judge between you with regard to all on which you were wont to differ.

Note: Verse 3:55 fully confirms the spiritual exaltation (Rafa) of Jesus after his death that is also mentioned in 4:158 [Rafa].

وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ إِدْرِيسَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّا
وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّا

Quran 19:56 (Asad) AND CALL to mind, through this divine writ, Idris. Behold, he was a man of truth, a prophet,
19:57 (Asad) whom We exalted onto a lofty station.[42]

Dr. Allama Muhammad Asad [One of the Greatest & the most unbiased scholars of Quran writes his comments about verse 19:57 as under:

Note 42 (Quran Ref: 19:57)
As regards my rendering of rafa'nahu as "whom We exalted", see 3:55 and 4:158, where the same expression is used with reference to Jesus, as well as note 172 on the last-named verse.(Quran Ref: 19:57)

Dr. Muhammad Asad further writes about verse 4:158 in Note 172 (Quran Ref: 4:158)

Cf. 3:55, where God says to Jesus, "Verily, I shall cause thee to die, and shall exalt thee unto Me." The verb rafa ahu (lit., "he raised him" or "elevated him") has always, whenever the act of raf' ("elevating") of a human being is attributed to God, the meaning of "honouring" or "exalting".

TO SUM UP:
Quran confirms death of Jesus but brainless fanatics twist Quran in order to support Ascend & Return fiction of Jesus forged by Christians. Quran never denies nailing of Jesus on Cross but STRICTLY denies his death on Cross MA SALABU 4:157. Word RAFA of 4:158 is used many times in Quran & its meaning is always to raise in ranks SPIRITUAL EXALTATION & never to raise Body up to SKY. Verse 3:55 reinforces 4:158 when it says, Spiritual Exaltation of Jesus aft his death. 5:116-117 FULLY CONFIRM his death.

Word wafat is death. Same word Wafat appears in verse 10:46 about the death of Last Prophet Muhammad [PBUH]that also appears in 3:55, 5:116-117 for Eisa PBUH. It is madness and stupidity to translate same word WAFAT differently in 3:55 and 10:46 in order to support fable of ascend and return of already dead Eisa PBUH.
