On May 28th, AMCHAM members representing the aerospace and defense sectors convened with Col. Shailender Arya, Advisor for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The discourse centered on the impending door knock initiative to Washington DC. Key points of discussion included the imperative for recognizing RDP agreements to bolster visibility and accountability, the formalization of Security of Supply Agreements (SOSA), enhanced synchronization in bilateral government accords, exemptions under ITAR, and the barriers to market access.
The meeting was steered by Mr. Alain Garcia, Chairman of the Defense Committee at AMCHAM and Vice President of Global Business Development – India at Boeing Defense India, alongside Mr. Samit Ray, Co-Chairman of the Defense Committee at AMCHAM and Deputy Vice President of Government Affairs & Public Policy South Asia at RTX. Their leadership was instrumental in navigating these complex issues, fostering a robust dialogue aimed at strengthening defense collaboration between India and the United States.
