The invention of the game of dominoes dates back many centuries to the ancient Chinese societies that existed in similar time periods. It is not evident just who invented dominoes first, but there are a number of theories associated with plausible inventors in the distant past. Due to this reason, the location of the invention is not known for sure too. Some say dominoes were innovated by the creative hero of popular romance, Hung Ming. A myth even tells of how he came up with the idea for purposes of entertainment in order to keep his soldiers awake during the watches at night in their camps in the case of the enemy attacking suddenly. Some people attribute the innovation to Kéung T’ái Kung for reasons alike, and yet another legend speaks of a man named Fán Laí gaining credit for the invention of the game. Traditionally, dominoes were small tiles made from carved ivory or bone with small, round pips of inset ebony. Nowadays, they are in card form. There is a particular set of rules to play the game as devised by the Chinese and dominoes were apparently derived from cubic dice. The amazing thing about them is that countless games can be played from the one set of cards. A popular game among the Chinese in ancient China was called ‘Mah Jong’. Dominoes, sometimes referred to as Chinese dominoes, were an incredibly trendy and well-liked card game in ancient China, and have some gaming importance till this day. They are often played at parties, in casinos and indoors on rainy days to keep the Chinese tradition alive.
