More Pain-relieving Herbs
To complete your anti-pain arsenal, consider these herbs:
• Arnica (Arnica spp.), available in creams and tablets, relieves osteoarthritic pain in the knee and pain following carpal-tunnel release surgery. It contains helenin, an analgesic, as well as anti-inflammatory chemicals. Apply cream twice daily; use tablets according to package directions.
• Boswellia (Boswellia serrata) contains anti-inflammatory and analgesic boswellic acids that can soothe pain from sports injuries and also can help osteoarthritic knee pain. Take 150- to 400-mg capsules or tablets (standardized to contain 30 percent to 65 percent boswellic acids) three times daily for two to three months.
• Clove oil (Syzygium aromaticum) is a popular home remedy for a toothache. Apply a drop or two of this excellent anti-inflammatory directly to your aching tooth or tooth cavity.
• Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) seeds are stocked with 16 analgesic and 27 antispasmodic chemicals. It makes a pleasant licorice-flavored tea and is especially good for menstrual cramps. But avoid the herb while pregnant or nursing because of its estrogenic effects.
• Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) is a remedy many people swear by for headaches, including migraines. Feverfew can reduce both the frequency and severity of headaches when taken regularly. It is available in 60-mg capsules of fresh, powdered leaf (1 to 6 capsules daily), or 25-mg capsules of freeze-dried leaf (2 capsules daily). You can also make tea—steep 2 to 8 fresh leaves in boiling water, but do not boil them, since boiling breaks down the active parthenolides.
• Gingerroot (Zingiber officinale) has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that can alleviate digestive cramps and mild pain from fibromyalgia. You can take 1 to 4 grams powdered ginger daily, divided into two to four doses. Or make tea from 1 teaspoon chopped fresh root simmered in a cup of water for about 10 minutes.
•Devil’s Claw root is a pain-reliever and anti-inflammatory, and is often found in herbal combinations for arthritis.
•Ginger extract can help moderately reduce osteoarthritis pain according to some studies.
•Keratin is found in much of your body’s connective tissue such as skin, hair and teeth and is high in the amino acid cysteine, which is a shock-absorber and helps strengthen weight-bearing joints. Keratin is found in a scientifically formulated compound that can counteract joint destruction over time.
• Korean Angelica is an herbal agent that works on the central nervous system to help fight inflammatory pain throughout the body.
• Nobiletin has been shown in laboratory animals to dramatically suppress destructive inflammation.
•Stinging Nettle leaf extracts help restrain the inflammation in autoimmune conditions like those found in rheumatoid arthritis.
• Green tea (Camellia sinensis) is great for stiff muscles—it has nine muscle-relaxing compounds, more than just about any other plant.
• Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is recommended by the German Commission E for sore throat. Not surprising, considering its nine anesthetic, 10 analgesic and 20 anti-inflammatory compounds. To make tea, simmer about 2 teaspoons of dried root in a cup of water for 15 minutes; strain. Do not take licorice if you have high blood pressure, heart conditions, diabetes, kidney disease or glaucoma.
• Oregano (Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) and thyme (Thymus vulgaris) are herbs you should be sprinkling liberally onto your food, as they are replete with analgesic, antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory compounds. (Oregano alone has 32 anti-inflammatories!) Mix and match these garden herbs into a pain-relieving tea: Pour a cup of boiling water over a teaspoon of dried herbs, steep 5 to 10 minutes and strain.
Rose oil
• Angelica is rich in constituents that quiet the nervous system, is grounding and helps establish ease. Anti inflammatory agents make it one of my favorite allies for alleviating arthritic aches and pains, and it’s antispasmodic, so eases menstrual or muscular cramps.
• Angelica tincture
Anti-inflammatory herbs are brimming with salicylates and/or steroids. They can also be nourishing, immune strengthening, bone building, and hormonal balancing. The buds, leaves, and bark of willow, birch, poplars, black haw, and wintergreen are all rich in salicylates, and so pain relieving and anti-inflammatory. Vinegar is an excellent menstrum for extracting the salicylates, one teaspoon being equal to one aspirin.
• Sipping ginger syrup or applying a warm ginger poultice will help ease the pain and inflammation of arthritic joints. Sweat lodges, saunas, water baths, and steam baths, especially when using ginger, are all deeply penetrating and initiate healing energy.
Ginger syrup
The roots of ginseng, angelica, wild yam, and black cohosh are rich in anti-inflammatory steroids. 20-30 drops of tincture made from the fresh or dry roots of any of these herbs helps ease sore, painful joints. Synthesized steroidal drugs, unlike natural herbs, often have a negative impact on the immune system, and are known to stimulate osteoporosis.See More

Calendula is beneficial for a multitude of ailments. When taken internally – as a tea or tincture – it has the ability to reduce the inflammation of the digestive system. When applied topically — as a lotion, sa...lve, ointment, herbal bath, or compress — it is one of the best herbs for treating skin issues like burns, inflammation, cuts, scrapes, bruises, bee stings, minor wounds, diaper rashes, conjunctivitis, eczema, athlete’s foot, and acne. It works just like any anti-fungal, antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory would.
As powerful as it is aganist these ailments, it is also gentle enough to use on babies, children, or animals.
Ingredients-
-4 ounces Calendula-infused oil
-2-4 ounces Calendula-infused distilled water
-0.5 ounces beeswax
-0.5 ounces vegetable glycerin
-o.5 ounces witch hazel
-1/4 teaspoon grapefruit seed extract, optional
-15 drops essential oils of lavender, optional
Supplies----
kitchen scale (in order to accurately weigh your ingredients)
electric stick blender
mixing bowls and pots (glass or stainless steal only, do not use aluminum or Teflon)
spatula
measuring cups and spoons
storage containers for the lotion (this is the perfect opportunity to repurpose those glass jars from the kitchen)
wide-mouth glass mason jars
fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
Method
1. Sterilize all of your equipment and jars by putting it all in a big pot of boiling water then draining. It’s not vital that you do this, but it will help ward off bacterial growth…possibly extending the life of your lotion.
2. Prepare Calendula-infused distilled water by pouring boiling distilled water over fresh or dried Calendula flowers and steeping until it’s room temperature. Strain. Reserve 4 ounces of the “tea.” Note: You may simply use plain distilled water, I just like to add an additional Calendula punch. And yes, distilled or pure water should be used to prevent bacteria from growing.
3. Measure out the oils and beeswax by weighing them on a kitchen scale. Add them to a wide-mouth pint sized glass mason jar. Using a makeshift double boiler method, place a washcloth on the bottom of a pot filled with water, then place the jar in the pot. Melt oils and beeswax over low heat, stirring occasionally.
4. Remove the jar of melted oils and beeswax from the pot and allow them to cool on the counter. Note: This is the most important step! I can’t stress enough the importance of the oils, beeswax, water, vegetable glycerin and witch hazel all becoming room temperature prior to mixing. This must happen in order for the lotion to bind.
5. Throughout the cooling process, blend the oil mixture with a stick blender in order to produce a smooth texture. Once room temperature, begin slowing adding vegetable glycerin, witch hazel, and herbal infused water (and essential oils if using) in a slow steady stream while blending. Note: Add infused water, between 2-4 ounces, until you have reached desired thickness. As the lotion cools further, it will thicken.
6. Pour into storage containers. This recipe will produce approximately 6-8 ounces of high-quality lotion. I’ve kept it on my bathroom counter for 4 months without ever having an issue. For longer storage, keep in the refrigerator.
Get ready to bathe your family in Calendula goodness!See More
1/2 cup coconut oil (proven to help heal burns - plus it’s anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, & a great moisturizer
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil (full of vitamins & a great moisturize...r
1/4 cup dried comfrey (a herb for healing woulds
1/4 cup dried calendula (a herb for healing woulds & skin irritations
2oz beeswax (equals out to 2 of the 1oz bars or 4 tablespoons)
2 tablespoons of honey (natural moisturizer with anti-microbial properties
10 drops lavender essential oil (anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, & analgesic (optional)
All of these ingredients work together to create a really powerful healing salve also great for diaper rash and dry skin in winter.
In a medium saucepan – combine the coconut oil, olive oil, comfrey, & calendula. Cook on medium heat for about 20-30 minutes, stirring often. You can also for-go the cooking method to get more ‘healing zip’ from the herbs by soaking the herbs in the olive oil for 4-6 weeks. Then you would follow the rest of the recipe accordingly, with the exception of adding the coconut oil to the mixture before adding in the beeswax. But, I personally like the ‘short-cut’ method.
Strain the mixture using a cheesecloth or coffee filter.
Toss the herbs & wipe out any remaining herbs from your saucepan. Add the strained oil back to your pot, turn the heat to low. Stir in the honey at this point until mixed thoroughly. Some people don’t realize the benefits honey has to your skin, but it’s a natural moisturizer with anti-microbial properties. Note, having the honey mix in evenly can be somewhat tedious, so you can opt to omit it if you wish.
Next is to add the beeswax. If you’re using bars, cut into slices before adding as I did. Stir until completely melted.
Stir in the essential oil, if using, at this point. Once combined, remove from the heat.
You’ll want to work quickly now as the salve starts to set up rather fast. Pour into the glass or tin container(s) of your choice. I like to use wide mouth 8oz mason jars.
Stir it occasionally while it cools to ensure that everything settles properly, especially the honey.
Once it sets up, you’re all done. Each batch makes 16 ounces.
It keeps for a year.See More

how to make your own herbal Tinctures

1. Slice 3-4 apples in half with a large knife, then scoop out the seeds and stem parts with a melon baller.
2. Mix together:
a little over half stick/quarter cup melted butter or margarine or... fat of your choice (I've used part olive oil or coconut oil.)
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup flour (I used whole wheat) or gluten-free 'flour' of your choice
1/2 cup brown sugar (or white sugar with date syrup or molasses or agave syrup)
1 tsp cinnamon
pinch of ground ginger
pinch of salt
3. Fill and top apple halves with the mixture.
4. Bake at 350 F/180 C until tops are golden brown and apples swell, about 30 minutes.
~Frisky
Materials:
spray bottle (I had a 34 ounce one I purchased at the $ store a while ago)
Pickling vinegar (It works better than regular vinegar because the acetic acid % is higher...)
Salt (1/2 cup for my size bottle)
Dish soap (a squeeze)
Fill a spray bottle almost full with Pickling vinegar. Since my spray bottle wasn't huge, I added only 1/2 cups of salt. If you spray bottle is big, add more salt. Squirt in a dash of dish soap into the bottle. Close the bottle tight and shake, shake, shake. You are done!!!
Go outside on a bright sunny day and spray those weeds. I found the sun sped up the process so try to pick a good day to do it. Remember though, this will also kill your grass and plants too. So don't get trigger happy like me and kill other things around the garden :)

I formulated this recipe to give it as much shelf life as possible. Since I opted for garlic powder and onion powder over fresh garlic and onion, the sauce will keep in your refr...igerator for as long as you would keep mayonnaise and ketchup. But, don’t worry. It will be eaten long before you have to worry about it spoiling.
It’s uses are many. It’s a dip for vegetables and chips, a salad dressing, a sauce for seafood or a sandwich spread.. It is good on EVERYTHING, except Cheerios. LOL :D
Here’s my version that makes a pint jar full.
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup chili sauce ( DO NOT substitute with Thai Chili Sauce)
1 heaping teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/4 cup light olive oil
juice of one lemon
Mix all ingredients well and store in refrigerator overnight. It needs to sit to let the flavors become “acquainted”. They shouldn’t rush into marriage. :D ~Frisky
(makes about 2 quarts)
Apples – whatever fits in your crock pot, about 10 lbs of apples (I had about 20 apples, all different varieties – added in two batches)
2-3 cinnamon sticks
... 1 t freshly grated nutmeg
1 t ground cloves
1 – 2 cups apple cider
sugar to taste (optional)
Dump all ingredients into the crock pot & turn on low for about 8 -10 hours. Add more apples at that point if you want (this will add about 8 hours). Cook on low for another 8 -10 hours or so. Remove your cinnamon sticks – if you used a more tart apple, add sugar (1/4 cup at a time) to taste. Mine ended up cooking for about 36 hours because I wanted it nice and cooked down, this is kind of up to you though. It needs at least 16 hours but can go up to 48 probably!
For the last 2 hours or so: prop the lid of the crock pot and let the extra moisture continues to evaporate until you get the desired texture.
Place into jars :) ~Frisky

All you need to make it is olive oil, beeswax, & a few essential oils. My favorite combination of essential oils for this is rosemary, eucalyptus, & lavender. Some people like to use peppermint or camphor... as well, but personally – it’s a little harsh for me & my children.
I get my essential oils from Ancient Indigo because I love the quality & the prices. I was able to work out something AWESOME with the owner, Cindy. She has put together a 3-pack of oils for this vapor rub (plus another awesome ‘make your own’ recipe coming up very soon!) at an outstanding deal. Essential oils can be very pricey, but she is offering them at a fantastic price for the entire set of 3! And you’ll still have plenty of essential oil left over for future jars – these will go a long way! Thanks so much, Cindy!!
Combine the olive oil & beeswax in a saucepan on medium heat & stir with a wooden spoon until the beeswax has melted. Turn off the heat, and stir in 25-30 drops of eucalyptus essential oil, 20-25 drops of rosemary essential oil, & 10-15 drops of lavender essential oil. Pour into your jars. I like to use 1 of these 4oz jars for this.
Seal the jars, and allow them to cool. They will set up into a spreadable solid – I just LOVE the consistency of this vapor rub! It’s smooth like silk and not all gooey feeling like the store bought.
And a quick tip – while this is the perfect amount of essential oils for me, if it’s not quite enough for you… you can always remelt it & add more essential oils til it’s as strong as your liking.
I really hope that you like this as much as we all do – it’s always in our medicine cabinet. We just love it!
And for those of you who would like to try it before you make it, you can also purchase it in my Etsy store.
Now, go get un-stuffy!

Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) abounds in my garden!
It is one of the most easy to grow medicinal herbs and has some pretty amazing healing properties…making it a great addition t...o the home pharmacy.
Historically, lemon balm has been used to treat all kinds of nervous system ailments and is known for it’s ability to:
calm an irritable child.
act as an antiviral in treating cold sores due to the herpes virus.
heal wounds and protect the skin.
treat the symptoms of the common cold and flu when combined with other medicinal herbs.
relieve the symptoms of migraine headaches, anxiety, depression, and insomnia.
Likewise, feverfew is unbeatable when it comes to treating the common headache, migraines, stress/tension headaches, and those headaches associated with PMS symptoms. It truly is a wonder herb and a must in the garden of those who suffer these ailments.
Supplies needed
-Solvent (i.e. 100 proof alcohol or vegetable glycerin)
-quart sized glass mason jar
-4 oz. fresh or 2 oz. of dried herbs
Ingredients
-3 parts lemon balm
-2 parts feverfew
-100 proof vodka to fill
Method
. Measure your herbs depending on whether you are using fresh or dried herbs.
2. If using fresh herbs, chop until fine.
3. Add herbs to glass jar.
4. Pour solvent over herbs to fill the jar. The solvent should rise 1-2 inches above the herbs.
5. Place the lid on the jar and shake until the herbs are well combined.
6. Label jar with contents and date.
7. Set in a warm, sunny window and steep for 2-6 weeks, shaking daily.
8. Strain with a cheesecloth, compost the plant material, and place tincture in dark colored bottles for storage in a cool, dark place. The tincture should keep for up to 5 years.
Adult Dosage
At the sudden onset of migraine symptoms, begin taking 1/4-1/2 a teaspoon of the tincture every 30 minutes to an hour until symptoms subside. ~Frisky
Just like the brownie mix one you can add all your dry ingredients and write on your container or jar the rest of the wet you need and any instructions you need ~Frisky
Also this makes 8 :)
1 1.../2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
Directions
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.
Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.
We're going to make very small, single use packets of antibiotic ointment ....you can use your own salves instead also :)
need-
a lighter
... clean drinking straws
ointment
needle nose pliers
Place the straw over the opening of the ointment tube and carefully squeeze in a small amount of the ointment that is approximately one quarter of an inch in length. You'll notice that transparent straws work best for this.
Use you fingers to squeeze the end of the straw so that it pushes the ointment further up inside the plastic straw. This will provide a clean area for sealing the end of the straw without having the ointment ooze out while you are holding it with your pliers.
Hold the end of the straw with your needle-nose pliers so that a small amount of the straw is protruding. This will be used to melt and seal the end of the straw. Take your Bic lighter and carefully melt the end of the straw so that it forms a seal. I like to quickly pinch the melted end with my pliers to ensure a good seal.
Turn the straw around and find the point where the ointment went up to inside the straw. Pinch just past that with your needle-nose pliers and cut off the excess straw with a pair of scissors making sure to leave a small amount of the straw protruding for sealing with your lighter just as you did in the first step.
Now you have a single use packet of antibiotic ointment that you can carry with you as part of your UL backpacking first aid kit. These are also perfect for EDC carry in a pocket or even your wallet.
I've yet to have one of these burst or fail on me. Simple, affordable, and very convenient. A great way to make use of those open tubes that are lying around with just a small amount of ointment left in them. Pretty clever idea that can be used for other purposes, ~Frisky

I use this and its so mmmmmmm good
For cider lovers, we propose you an original way to have it into an apple. You will need:
Large apples
Lemon juice
... Apple cider
Optional: cinnamon, star anise or cloves.
Cut the top of the apple and around the outline with a knife. Empty it with a spoon and sprinkle with the juice inside to prevent rust.
To finish, fill up with your apple cider and optionally you can add cinnamon, cloves or star anise spices to enhance flavor. Delicious!
1 Cup creamy peanut butter
2 Cup powdered sugar
1/2 Cup honey
... Directions: mix mix mix. I use my stand mixer to make it quick, clean and easy, but if you prefer to make it long, messy, and not-so-easy, let your kids mix it up by hand :)
A lot of PB playdough recipes you’ll find include dry milk powder, but I really don’t like the grainy texture it creates so I use straight powdered sugar. Plus, it tastes waaaay better.
This makes plenty for 2-3 kids to enjoy. Just give ‘em rollers, cutters, moulds, etc. and let them go to town!
To increase the fun factor give the kiddos pretzel sticks, graham crackers, cheerios, m&m’s etc and let them build stuff and decorate it. (Let your imagination take over)

Have a few too many cocktails last weekend? Feeling a little bloated or uncomfortable in your clothes? Try this immunity boosting, anti-inflammatory drink that will fill you up, flush your system an...d make you feel better in no time. Make a big pitcher of this, run yourself a hot bath and relax you will be feeling better in no time.
Makes a Pitcher-
1/2 Lemon thinly sliced
1/4 Cucumber thinly sliced- save 2 slices to place on your eyes
Ice
Water
In a large pitcher add the lemon and cucumber, then the ice and then water. Let sit in the fridge for a few minutes before serving. Pour into a large wine glass, put your feet up and relax. Once the water is down to only 1/4 full refill with water. You can do this several times, keep in the fridge.
The cucumber acts as an anti-inflammatory and the lemons boost immunity. ~FriskySee More
Having tummy trouble? Mint and Lavender both will cure a upset stomach and help flush your system. No wonder many Day Spas use both in their water, food and of course aromatherapy massages, ...facials and scrubs. You can have your own spa day at home with this delicious tummy calming, cancer fighting water. Your breath will be fresher, your tummy happy and your skin glowing after a day of drinking this water. If you don’t have a fancy little bag like the one shown just use a coffee filter, take a string off a tea bag and tie it up, easy right?!
You can keep re-using the bag of spices until you no longer taste them. I like to re-fill my pitcher of water when there is about 1/3 left, this way the flavor is evenly distributed.
Makes one bag-
1 tbsp Lavender dried or fresh
1/2 tbsp Mint dried or fresh
Tea bag or coffee filter and string from tea bag
Large Pitcher
Place Lavender and Mint on the baggie or coffee filter, tie up and place at the bottom of a large pitcher, cover in ice 1/3 full then fill the rest up with water. Place in fridge for 10 minutes before serving, pour into a favorite glass, I like wine glasses, I feel like I am indulging even though my drink is Zero calories. ;) ~Frisky
It is so refreshing but also has a bite from the pepper corns which is then mellowed by the sweetness of the pears and clementines. YUM! I love this drink!
Questions about Clem...entines? They are just like tangerines and also called Cuties but you could easily replace by a juicy orange or blood orange for extra color.
Makes 1 pitcher, refill 3-5 times until flavor dissipates.
1 Pear thinly sliced
1 Clementine Orange cut into 8ths
1 tbsp Dried Cranberries
1 tsp All Spice Berries (look like pepper corns)
Top w/ 1.5 cups ice and then fill up with water and let sit 3 hours in fridge before drinking. The key here is to slice your fruit as thinly as you can so that you get the most flavor. If you want sweeter add an apple and another orange.
This will last in the fridge for 24-48 hours. There is no nutritional info below, it is all too small to notate, basically zero on everything. If you sit and drink an entire pitcher it is about 5 calories, you basically burn off any calories just by consuming. ~Frisky
When it is hot outside, and I mean HOT you need something that will cool you off, Mint does just that! Plus water naturally cools you off, like free air conditioning, and suppresses your appetit...e to help you lose weight just like the peaches in this recipe. Can you think of anything better than to sit outside reading a book with some Peach Mint water? I feel relaxed just thinking about it.
This combo is light and refreshing, if you prefer it sweeter drop a couple peach slices into your cup it really intensifies the peach flavor, you can also add a splash of vanilla to add sweetness to the pitcher as well.
I use frozen peaches, the slicing, pitting and removing of the skins it too labor intensive for me, if you choose to use fresh peaches do all that, place in bag and freeze before making this.
Makes 1 pitcher refill up to 8 times
1 long sprig of Mint, or a handful of leaves you can tie together with kitchen twine
10 frozen Peach Slices, plus more to garnish (optional)
Water and Ice
I found that leaving the mint leaves on the sprig was easier and I got less debris in my drink that way too. Drop peaches in your pitcher, then the mint, top with ice and water and place in fridge for 4 hours or overnight. Serve in a wine glass*, garnish with a frozen peach slice (also acts as a ice cube) you can refill the pitcher up to 8 times, or until the flavor dissipates. ~frisky
Did you know both grapefruit and apple boost metabolism and curb your appetite? I love foods that help me with my weight loss journey and these two are big ones. Top that with water... also curbing your appetite and you have a great refreshing drink that works for you!
Use your favorite kind of apple I used a Green Apple because I wanted to play up the tartness of the grapefruit, if you like your drinks more on the sweet side use a Sweet Crisp or Fugi and use the whole thing. You can also squeeze the pineapple as you add it in, it might add between 5-10 calories to each glass but that is nothing! You burn 5 calories drinking the glass of water!
Makes 1 big pitcher, you can re-fill 3-5 times
1/2 Grapefruit
1/2 Apple
1/2 of a Pineapple- fresh
Ice and Water- Fizzy water is good too, just skip the ice.
Cut the Grapefruit into medium sized slices, same with the apple and add into a pretty juice pitcher. Cut the pineapple into medium to thin slices, ideally you want to try and get all the slices about the same size. Add the pineapple squeezing a little if you want it sweeter, then top with 2 cups ice, top that with water and place in the fridge for 4 hours. Once you have enjoyed 1/2 of your pitcher of water re-fill it and you can repeat this as long as the flavor stays. ~Frisky
On a hot summer day this will cool you right off! You can choose flat water or fizzy water, both work great! If you are trying to kick your soda habit you should go for fizzy water here I think ...you will love it and it will curb your cravings.
Like it sweeter? Add more strawberries and only 1/2 of a lime, adding more strawberries might bring up the calories from 0 to 5-10 per glass…. You will burn that off pouring it into your glass
I used fresh strawberries but I popped them in the freezer several hours before, you want them frozen otherwise they will just fall apart in the water.
Makes 1-2 liters-
8 Frozen or Fresh Strawberries- See note above on freezing strawberries before making this
1 Lime
1-2 liters of Pellegrino or Club Soda- you can also use flat water
Slice the strawberries into three pieces and drop into the water, then slice the lime into 10 wedges and add to the water. Chill for 3-4 hours and serve, if you like make some strawberry and lime ice cubes if you are serving with flat water. In an ice-cube tray place one strawberry slice and a lime slice, cover with water and freeze for 3-4 hours.
If you eat the strawberries yes there will be a few calories, but go for it each slice of strawberry has only 1 calorie ~Frisky
Did you know that Watermelon and Rosemary are both full of Potassium and Calcium? The combo makes this the perfect after workout drink. This zero calorie drink is refres...hing and gives back to your body too. Potassium is essential for building healthy muscles and calcium strengthens your bones to help you stand taller and look leaner.
Makes one big pitcher, refill 3-5 times-
2 cups Chopped Watermelon
2 large Sprigs of Rosemary
In a large pitcher drop in the watermelon and rosemary, cover with ice and then water. Place in fridge for 10 minutes before serving. Once the water is 1/2 way gone refill with cold water, keep doing that 3-5 times before replacing watermelon and rosemary.
Makes 1 one liter water bottle, refill 3-5 times-
1/4 cup Thinly sliced Watermelon
1 small Sprig of Rosemary
If the water bottle is full dump some out to make room for the watermelon, if empty put the watermelon and rosemary in first and then add water. Shove the watermelon and rosemary into your water bottle put in fridge for 10 minutes, that’s it! Refill when it gets 1/2 way down with cold water, do that 3-5 times before adding more watermelon and rosemary.
*A note on the water bottle method, you will not be able to get the watermelon and rosemary out so don’t use something you will want to keep unless it has a wide mouth. ~frisky
I love Basil and use it in everything, it was just a matter of time before I put this delicious, natural anti-inflammatory and natural antibiotic herb into my water. Along with an overly sweet frui...t like a mango this water is well balanced and delicious.
Mangos aid in digestion, boost your memory and increases your sex drive! Do I have your attention now? Try this out, besides being incredibly good for you, it is delicious and will help you drink more water.
Makes one big pitcher of water, can be refilled 4-6 times before replacing fruit and herbs-
1 Large Ripe Mango
Large handful of Basil- about 8 large leafs
In a large clean pitcher rip the basil in half (always rip basil, never use a knife it will brown the herb) and toss in, slice the mango into large chunks and toss in. Cover the fruit and herbs with ice and then add water, place in the fridge for at least an hour before serving for maximum deliciousness. I drank this all evening, about 3 re-fills, and then left in fridge overnight, it was so yummy the next morning. ~Frisky
1 Cinnamon Stick
Drop apple slices in the bottom of the pitcher (save a few to drop in your glass later) and then the cinnamon stick, cover with ice about 1/2 way through then with water. Place in the fridge for 1 hour before serving. ~Frisky
My after New years Detox drink :)
Did you know Ginger and Mango both boost your metabolism? Along with boosting your metabolism ginger also is a natural pain reliever, from migraines to menstrual cra...mps ginger heals a lot of pain. It also helps reduce morning or motion sickness and banishes heart burn! Mangos not only boost metabolism, they also aid in digestion, boost your memory and increases your sex drive! This one little drink will do a lot for your body, so make a big pitcher today and enjoy.
I have made this in a 2 liter pitcher, in a giant sun tea container and in a cleaned out venti Starbucks cup. This recipe is for the largest, the 4 liter sun tea pitcher. If you want to do a smaller pitcher cut the recipe in half, in a small cup use just one very thin slice of ginger and 1/8 cup mango.
You can use fresh or frozen mango, I like frozen because I don’t have to cut and it is always picked at the peak of the season and frozen so if I can’t get mangos in season I can still always have some in the house. Plus they are like little ice cubes here, fun! I highly recommend you use fresh ginger, the powdered just does not taste the same and will clump in your water. Check your farmer’s market or the produce section of your grocery store for ginger, you can store in freezer to make it last longer.
Makes 4 liters, can refill 2-4 times until flavor is lost.
1 Ginger Root
1 cup Frozen Mango- fresh is fine too
To peel the ginger use the back of a spoon or a veggie peeler, just peel the part that you will be using, not the whole thing. Using a sharp knife slice 3-4 quarter sized slices. You want them about the size and thickness of the coin. Drop into your pitcher and add in the mango.
Now top with 3 cups of ice and then top off with water. Place in your fridge for 1-3 hours before serving, drop in a couple frozen mango chunks in a pretty glass for ice cubes when serving, if you used fresh mango chop some up into ice cube sized chunks and toss in freezer when you put the water in the fridge.
I hope you enjoy this metabolism boosting drink, you may also like my Apple Cinnamon Water or my Mango Basil Water drinks. Here are more metabolism boosting meals, the new way to lose weight: make your food work for you! )O( ~Frisky

Ingredients (8-10 large jello shots)
1 cup canned pineapple juice
1.5 packets Knox unflavored gelatin
1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
... 1 cup cake flavored vodka (or whipped vodka or vanilla)
pineapple
maraschino cherries
plastic shot cups
Instructions
Pour pineapple juice and sugar (if using) in small sauce pan and sprinkle with gelatin. Allow to soak in for a minute or two. Heat over medium heat until gelatin dissolves, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in vodka.
Pour into plastic shot glasses, filling 3/4 of the way full, reserving some of the jello mixture at room temperature. Allow to set in refrigerator for about 45 minutes, or until just firm to the touch.
While jello is setting, prepare pineapple garnish. Cut small rings from pineapple and place in a microwave safe bowl with a tablespoon of water. Cover and microwave on high for 3-4 minutes or until pineapple is hot and steaming.
Once jello has start to set, place cooled pineapple ring and a maraschino cherry on top, and top off with a little more of the jello mixture so that everything can properly bind together. Refrigerate for at least four hours or overnight.

Ingredients
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup cornstarch**
... 1/3-1/2 cup water (You may need to add more or less.)
15 drops of eucalyptus, rosemary, and lavenderessential oil or 2-3 tsp. Vick's Vapor Rub*
Instructions
Mix using enough water to make a thick paste like a putty.
You can pour into muffin tins lined with papers, make small balls and set on a plate or put into a silicone ice cube tray or muffin tray.
Let them set for at least 12 hours or overnight to dry. You can bake them in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes to dry them more quickly.
Remove from papers or silicone trays and store in an airtight container.
When ready to use place a disc on the floor of your shower and let the water run on it while showering.
Notes
*Essential oils can be expensive. If you don't want to buy a lot of oils for this recipe, you can buy 1 bottle of the generic vapor rub and just use a couple of teaspoons in this mixture instead.
**You can leave the cornstarch out of the Homemade Vick's Vapor Shower Discs. I put it in because it helps hold them together better.

Have you heard of affogato? It’s an Italian word meaning “drowned” — usually referring to a dessert of ice cream drowned in hot espresso. It’s simplicity at its finest – and also one of my favo...rite ways to end a meal.
So you can imagine my delight when I saw on one of my favorite local restaurant’s menus (R bistro) — hot cocoa peppermint ice cream affogato. Peppermint ice cream drowned in hot chocolate? Oh, yes!
What You Need
14-ounce can regular coconut milk
14-ounce can light coconut milk
½ cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons peppermint extract
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 tablespoons honey
¼ cup water
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups soy milk (or milk)
Peppermint candies (a few for garnish)
What To Do
A few hours prior to serving, make the ice cream: In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 cans coconut milk, ½ cup honey, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 teaspoons peppermint extract. Freeze the mixture in an ice cream maker (or make it without the machine). When complete, freeze the ice cream for around 2 to 3 hours to obtain a hard texture.
In glass 2-cup measuring cup, place 3 tablespoons cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons honey, ¼ cup warm water and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (if using). Microwave for about 20 seconds to heat briefly, then whisk or stir together until combined.
Add a bit of the soy milk and whisk it in to temper the mixture. Once it is incorporated, add the remainder of the 2 cups of milk.
Microwave for 2½ to 3 minutes until hot, or for the stovetop method, heat the mixture over medium heat until hot, taking care that it does not boil.
To serve, crush the peppermint candies. Place a scoop or two of ice cream in a bowl or glass, then sprinkle with peppermint candies. At the table, pour hot chocolate over the ice cream. Enjoy!
