Every team advances to the knockout stage and participates at the Round if 16. The winners will advance to the quarterfinals to play out the champion. The losers from those quarterfinals will play for the places 5–8. The defeated teams from the round of 16 will be ranked by their preliminary round results and play placement games for the places 9–16.

FIBA Africa Communication department has launched media accreditation for journalists wishing to cover the draw for the 27th edition of the African Cup of Nations – Afrobasket holding in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire from August 20 – 31, 2013. The draw for the championship is billed for March 30, 2013 in Abidjan with representatives of the sixteen participating countries in attendance.

 

AfroBasket 2013 is the 27th FIBA Africa Championship, played under the auspices of FIBA, the basketball sport governing body, and the African zone thereof. The tournament is being hosted by Ivory Coast from August 20 to 31 2013. The draw for the championship is billed for March 30, 2013 in Abidjan with representatives of the sixteen participating countries in attendance.

 

The sixteen countries that will take part in the continent biggest basketball showpiece which will also serve as 2014 FIBA World Cup billed for Spain include host Cote d’Ivoire, defending champion Tunisia, Angola and Nigeria. Others are Morocco (Zone-1); Senegal and Cape Verde (Zone-2); Burkina Faso (Zone-3); Central Africa, Cameroon and Republic of Congo (Zone-4); Egypt (Zone-5); Mozambique (Zone-6) zone-7 qualifier is yet to be held while FIBA Africa Executive and the Central Board will approve who gets the wild-card for the championship.

 

Marei, who started all 33 games for MSU in the 2012-13 season, averaged 13.6 points and a team-leading 7.3 rebounds per game. He also posted a team-high seven double doubles, including a 12-point, 12-rebound performance in the first round of the NCAA Central Region Tournament against Arkansas Tech.

For his efforts last season, Marei was named to the All-NSIC Second Team and the NCAA Central Region All-Tournament Team. The Mavericks finished their 2012-13 season with a 28-5 record and advanced to the finals of the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
