BBC Doctor Who Theme for the 50th Anniversary
July 7th, 2013
Doctor Who fans across the world rejoiced today as the popular children's television program released its official theme for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary celebration. The theme celebrates all 50 years of the show as the Time Lord, Doctor Who, travels the universe and saves planets from disaster.
The theme song features narration by John Hurt and is an arrangement of the 1970's tune by Murray Gold. The current showrunner, Steven Moffat, let loose a little knowledge of his own about the upcoming 50th anniversary and spilt that the show will "take over television."
Fans of the new theme, which will premiere during the 50th Anniversary episode on November 23rd, 2013, followed up with Murray Gold and he talked about the new theme. He said “Writing music for Doctor Who, there are no limitations on it. It’s not like other jobs which immediately create a ceiling to your ambitions. There aren’t any confinements in Doctor Who and if there are in one episode, they’re pretty soon gotten rid of in another episode.”
